Fun and festive holiday nails are a great way to look and feel "merry" during the holiday season. By following the simple steps below, anyone can create snazzy nails that are sure to grab attention, whether out shopping or at a holiday ball.
Difficulty: Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 bottle of solid nail polish
  • 1 bottle of sparkly/decorative nail polish
  1. Your first step is finding your base color. This is typically a dark shade, such as dark red, purple, or even black. Choose whichever brand you like, though professional and salon brands such as Opi and Esse tend to last longer and wear stronger.

  2. Now it is time to choose your overlapping color. To create this fun and festive holiday look, this color must be a glitter polish, sparkle polish, or other such confetti polish. Many brands carry these variations and your local drug store or beauty boutique is sure to have a great selection to choose from. You can really be creative here, going from light and transparent glitter to full fledged confetti stars!

  3. Once you have both polishes, it is time to apply the base coat of the dark shade. Remember, you should be careful when applying. Two coats is typically necessary, but three may be needed depending on the polish.

  4. Once the base is dry, after about 5 minutes, it is time to apply the decorative polish. The thickness with which you apply this polish will have an extreme effect on the end result, so you may want to test one nail to know what your desired look is. Apply anywhere from one thin coat to several coats of your decorative polish, depending on the consistency of your polish and your desired look.

  5. As with any nail color application, a top coat is of utmost importance. The top coat, applied on top of the last coat of decorative polish, seals in the style creating a shiny and lasting finish. This step must not be skipped.

  6. Voila! Your fun holiday nails are ready to hit the town with. Have fun using this simple formula to create a myriad of looks for your nails throughout the holiday season, and beyond.
